Promotions Policy
Appointment criteria from Technical Sergeant through Chief Master Sergeant, and a separate officer lane from commission through Major, for ArmA Philippines Milsim — Task Force Stingray.
ArmA Philippines Milsim - Task Force Stingray has two promotion lanes after Technical Sergeant. Enlisted members stay on the SNCO ladder: Master Sergeant, Senior Master Sergeant, then Chief Master Sergeant. Officers start only when Command commissions someone to Second Lieutenant; that commission is not a step on the NCO ladder.
There is no schoolhouse after Senior NCO School. There is no coded promotion from Technical Sergeant (or any SNCO grade) to Second Lieutenant. ACS, Special Forces, and Group Drills stay optional and are not promotion gates.
When the portal shows ELIGIBLE, that member is in a Command board queue — not pinned. Staff still approve the promotion, or set the live Discord rank role. Discord remains the live rank source.
How promotion actually happens
Measurable gates (coded)
The portal only checks current rank, lifetime qualifying operations, held qualifications, and attendance percent against the row for that step.
Every seeded step after Technical Sergeant uses the same numeric bar as Private through Technical Sergeant: 3 qualifying operations and 50% attendance, and the member’s current rank must match the from-rank of that step. Command board is always required.
SNCO appointment rows still require Senior NCO School complete (qual-tsg). Officer appointment rows have no extra qualifications.
ELIGIBLE is a board queue
Meeting the numeric bar places the member in the board queue with status ELIGIBLE. It does not pin the rank.
Command still denies if there is no vacancy, time in grade is short, conduct fails, or the member is not ready to hold the next grade.
Time in grade is staff-checked policy. It is not a database column in this pass.
Lifetime operations
Qualifying operations are lifetime counts. A Technical Sergeant who already finished Senior NCO School will often meet the 3-operation bar immediately. That is the same pattern as junior NCO. Command still boards the appointment.
Enlisted SNCO appointments
No Master Sergeant, Senior Master Sergeant, or Chief Master Sergeant schoolhouse. No new pipelines, sessions, or completion qualifications for these grades.
Technical Sergeant → Master Sergeant
Coded: current rank Technical Sergeant; Senior NCO School complete (qual-tsg); 3 qualifying operations; 50% attendance.
Command board also checks: SNCO vacancy; good standing; recommendation; the member can run a squad or platoon, not only a fireteam; time as Technical Sergeant.
Master Sergeant → Senior Master Sergeant
Coded: current rank Master Sergeant; Senior NCO School complete (qual-tsg); 3 qualifying operations; 50% attendance.
Command board also checks: company-level SNCO vacancy; the member evaluates or backs junior NCO schools; time as Master Sergeant.
Senior Master Sergeant → Chief Master Sergeant
Coded: current rank Senior Master Sergeant; Senior NCO School complete (qual-tsg); 3 qualifying operations; 50% attendance.
Command board also checks: this grade is rare; senior enlisted advisor vacancy; Command-only appointment.
Officer lane
Officers are a separate lane. Commission is Command appointment. There is no officer schoolhouse and no Discord auto-enroll onto officer grades.
Commission → Second Lieutenant
This is not on the NCO ladder. Command appoints. Preferred (policy, not coded): Technical Sergeant or above in good standing.
Staff assign the Discord role Second Lieutenant. Sync writes rank_id to 2lt.
There is no promotion_requirements row from Technical Sergeant, Master Sergeant, Senior Master Sergeant, or Chief Master Sergeant to Second Lieutenant. There is no officer schoolhouse and no auto-enroll.
Second Lieutenant → First Lieutenant
Coded: current rank Second Lieutenant; 3 qualifying operations; 50% attendance; no extra qualifications.
Command board (platoon-leader analog) still required.
First Lieutenant → Captain
Coded: current rank First Lieutenant; 3 qualifying operations; 50% attendance; no extra qualifications.
Command board (company-command analog) still required.
Captain → Major
Coded: current rank Captain; 3 qualifying operations; 50% attendance; no extra qualifications.
Command board still required. Task Force commanding-officer vacancy — rare; Major is currently the CO grade used in APM.
What is not a promotion gate
- Advance Competency School (ACS), Special Forces, and Group Drills stay optional. They do not pin any SNCO or officer grade.
- Do not invent Master Sergeant, Senior Master Sergeant, Chief Master Sergeant, or Second Lieutenant pipelines, sessions, or completion quals.
- Discord rank sync is unchanged. Setting an officer Discord role remains a staff action, not an auto-enroll from Technical Sergeant.
